The City of Lockport's long and rich park history has resulted in a heritage of numerous municipal parks. These provide residents and visitors with a variety of recreational and scenic opportunities, while Lockport's schools, private, and other organizations provide additional services and opportunities.
Parks are generally well distributed throughout Lockport, but vary in the type and extent of facilities available.

Lockport possesses 211 acres of parkland. These vary greatly in size, ranging from less than an acre to over 80 acres. Municipal parks are generally well distributed throughout Lockport, forming a ring around the center of the City.
Parks vary in their kind, falling into four park types:
- Recreational
Contain playground or recreational equipment and facilities.
- Landscaped and Garden
Divide streets and provide green space.
- Canal
Border the Erie Canal and provide opportunities for sightseeing and trail use.
- Memorial
Contain either monuments or memorials and landscaped green space.
