Lockport Code paragraph 113-7 Garbage Collection Procedure:
No containers, receptacles, bags, bundles or other materials shall be placed at the curb for collection more than 24 hours prior to the regularly scheduled collection date.

RECYCLING:
Cardboard and Newspaper

Newspapers, cardboard (unsoiled) and magazines are collected with your regular garbage pickup every week. Newspapers and magazines should be placed in a paper bag or tied in a bundle. Cardboard should be flattened and tied if it is too large to be placed into the paper bag. Cardboard bundles must not exceed 4 feet high in length. Pizza boxes or other soiled paper or cardboard should be placed with the regular garbage.

No debris should ever be placed in cardboard boxes!

LARGE ITEM DISPOSAL:

White Goods - stoves, etc.
Place at the curb. You may call 716.433.1267 for details. Refrigerators MUST have the refrigerant removed and be so tagged before they can be disposed of. When purchasing a new appliance, it is recommended that you arrange with the retailer for the removal of your old white goods.

Old lumber -
remove any nails, cut into 4ft. lengths, tie together and place at curb. If work is being performed by a contractor, it will be their responsibility to remove old debris.

Recycling - Glass, Plastic and Tin -
The City provides recycling bins for clean glass, plastic and tin cans. The recycling bins are located at the Niagara County Landfill. Access the landfill by heading out West Avenue and turn right onto the Bypass (Route 93).

The landfill entrance is marked by a sign and flowerbed on the right side about one-half mile south of West Avenue. The landfill is open from 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, and from 8am to Noon on Saturdays.

Tires are also accepted at the landfill for a nominal $2.00 fee. DO NOT place tires at the curb. They will not be picked up.

Grass and yard waste -
Place in an OPEN container at the curb on your regular garbage pickup day. In the Fall, you should check your local media for pickup schedule and procedure.

Large limbs - should be placed butt end to the curb for pickup. Please call 716.433.1267 if you have an excessive amount of tree trimmings. If work is being performed by a lawn service, it will be their responsibility for removing lawn and tree trimming debris.

REFUSE WEIGHT MUST NOT EXCEED 50 POUNDS!

City will not accept oil, paint, or other chemicals as part of regular refuse pickup. Paint with can covers removed and allowed to dry hard will be accepted.

If you are unsure of a particular item to be disposed of, please call the Highway and Parks Department at 716.433.1267.
