TOWN ROAD WORK PERMIT LAW
Please be advised that the Town of Lockport has a Town Road Work Permit Law in pare which states, "No person (resident, partnership, firm, corporation, municipality, utility or any other entity) shall perform any work within the Right-of-Way of any Town Road or Highway without first obtaining a Permit for such work from the Superintendent of Highways of The Town of Lockport." ANYONE planning construction should call the Town of Lockport highway Office for information. Click here for Road Work Permit.

MAILBOXES
Recommended guidelines for installing mailbox and post:
Post Height: Measuring from bottom of mailbox to the point where the post meets the surface (does not include the measurement of post in the ground) should be 45 inches.
Set Back: Measure 14 feet from centerline of road to face of mailbox. The Highway Department uses this guideline when replacing mailboxes after road construction.

The Highway Department also recommends that Town residents that have a distinctive or expensive mailbox replace it with an inexpensive model during the winter months. This recommendation also is suggested for residents who have plastic mailboxes. These particular mailboxes are becoming brittle in the cold weather and when the snow is thrown from the snowplow, the weight of the snow is breaking the mailbox.

CULVERT PIPES (DRIVEWAY) FOR TOWN ROADS:
For new-build driveway, you will have to come to the Highway Office to pick up and fill out pipe permit. The Highway Superintendent will determine size of pipe. It will be up to the resident to purchase pipe and stake out where the placement of the pipe should be. Call Highway Office when the pipe is in. THE TOWN OF LOCKPORT HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WILL DO NO LANDSCAPING.

For non new-build driveway, the Highway Superintendent will first determine if it is possible. The resident will then need to pick up and fill out pipe permit. The superintendent will let you know size that is needed. The resident will purchase pipe, stake out the placement of pipe and let the Highway Department know when pipe is in. THE TOWN OF LOCKPORT WILL DO NO LANDSCAPING. Regarding existing driveway, the Highway Superintendent will look to determine situation. If needs replacement, the Town will then replace existing pipe.THE TOWN OF LOCKPORT HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WILL DO NO LANDSCAPING.

ONLY 25 front yard pipes are installed each year. Call in January as early as possible to get on list of 25. Once on the list, the Highway Superintendent will randomly pick names to determine the request for front yard to be filled in. It will be the homeowner's responsibility to fill out, return pipe permit and purchase the proper pipe needed to do the job. THE TOWN OF LOCKPORT HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WILL DO NO LANDSCAPING.
