The Town of Lockport's Recreation Commission is community oriented, providing opportunities for youth and families to enjoy events together at a reduced cost.

We not only co-sponsor events monetarily with the City of Lockport, but we also provide volunteers to help with events such as Light up Lockport and Bike Rodeos with the Barge Canal Optimists.

Youth Baseball Support
If you live in the Town of Lockport and your child participates in Lockport Little League, Anjo & Midget League or baseball in Pendleton, the Town of Lockport sponsors their registration.

Town of Lockport Summer Recreation Events
Free movies will start at dusk at the Town Hall Complex, 6560 Dysinger Road. Enjoy the sounds of the Federation of Musicians at 7:30, before showtime. Free pop and popcorn! Bring your lawnchairs and blankets! Come Rain or Shine.

2007 Youth Golf Lessons
Every Wednesday (beginning June 25th) or Saturday (beginning June 28th) join us for an eight week session 9am-11am. Lessons are for youths ages 6-12 and will be held at Gothic Hill Golf Course (located at 5477 Niagara Street Extension in Lockport). Cost of a regular Lesson is $19.50 per student, Town participants pay $14.50 per lesson with coupon. This includes lesson, bucket of range balls and a round of golf with a pull cart. 2007 Summer Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons are available this summer for children who live in the Town of Lockport. Lessons will be held at the Briarwood Pool & Tennis Club at the end of Willow Street and Briarwood Drive.

• Session I: June 30th - July 18th (three weeks)
  Lessons are 30 minutes in length: session times 9:00, 9:45, and 10:30am
• Session II: July 21st - August 8th (three weeks)
  Lessons are 30 minutes in length: session times 9:00, 9:45, and 10:30am
• Session III: August 11th - August 22nd (two weeks)
  Lessons are 45 minutes in length: session times 9:00 & 10:00 am
• There will also be a limited number of Saturday sessions available:
  July 5th - August 23rd (eight weeks)
  Lessons are 45 minutes in length: session times 9:00 & 10:00 am

Eligibility requirements: Any Town of Lockport child between 5 and 18 years old can participate. Must be at least 36 inches high at the shoulder. Please NO exceptions! Please sign up from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday at the Town Clerk's office before June 27th . Lesson times will be assigned at this time on a first come, first served basis. Cost is $30.00 per child, limit one session per child.

Town of Lockport Community Days
Join us for the third annual Lockport Community Days! The event takes place from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Sunday, July 20th at the Town Hall Complex (Beattie and Dysinger Roads). Bring your blanket/chairs and listen to the sounds of the Lockport Federation of Musicians. Free refreshments and games for the kids!

Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises
210-228 Market Street - (adults) $11.00 admission with coupon (children) $6.00 admission with coupon. Enjoy a bit of history with a cruise of the canal and locks. Watch for coupons in your town newsletter. Reservations suggested. Call (716) 433-6155.

Historic Palace Theatre
Watch the newsletter for coupons to a number of programs this summer! Coupons for concession items as well as admissions! Coupons are good for West Side Story, The Inkspots and Platters Concert, Noises Off (comedy), and Mike Randall as Mark Twain.

Erie Canal Discovery Center
See the 20x30 foot Raphael Beck Erie Canal Mural. Learn the history of the Erie Canal. Interactive, multi-media facility. Hear the stories of the Canawalers. You will find coupons for the Discovery Center in the newsletter this spring and summer. $2.00 off admission for adults or children. They are open daily 9-5.

Niagara County Historical Society
The Town of Lockport is sponsoring "One Day Summer Youth Programs" from 10am - 4pm. They are open to children 7-12 years. Pack a bag lunch. Reservations are required. Call 434-7433. Regular admission is $15.00 per day but Town children pay $10.00 with coupon found in your town newsletter. Several programs are available:
