Dog Control
NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets requires that all dogs four months and older with a current rabies vaccination be licensed. The Town’s licensing fee for spayed/neutered dogs is $8.00 per dog and $18.00 per non-spayed/non-neutered dog. This license must be renewed annually.

The Dog Control Officer’s duties include: Enforcement of dog licensing and ordinances as well as dog bite investigations. Dogs must be effectively restricted or controlled by a person by means of a leash not exceeding 15 feet in length. The Town limit is 3 dogs per household (location based).
If your dog goes missing, contact us immediately! KEEP TAGS ON YOUR DOG AT ALL TIMES! It is the law in NYS that all dogs must be identified. If your dog is licensed in the Town and has identification tags on, we will return your dog in a timely manner. We cannot release any dog that is not licensed. If your dog cannot be identified, it will be brought to the Niagara County SPCA. You will be required to provide proof of licensing and rabies as well as pay a $25 redemption fee at the office before attempting to pick up your dog.
If your dog is sick or injured and requires medical attention after hours, there are emergency vets in the area. Contact your local vet for more information.
